The 21-year-old, who wowed viewers over the weekend with her self-penned track, 'Tea and Toast', says that her being open about her sexuality has inspired others to come out to their friends and families.

"It's been amazing. I've done gigs and some young girls there said they were watching TV with their parents, they heard my music, their parents loved it, found out I was gay, still loved it and they've said, 'Oh, I'm gay as well', and their parents have been fine," Lucy told The Sun.

"For me, to have helped someone come out is the biggest compliment ever."

Lucy sailed through to the Judges' Houses stage of the competition after a disappointing performance on Saturday's show, and will be mentored by judge Tulisa Contostavlos.
