X Factor USA's Paige Thomas Was Worried About Singing Britney Spears' Song

X Factor USA’s Paige Thomas was worried about singing Britney Spears’ Everytime on the show this week.

The track is a breakup song, allegedly about Justin Timberlake, and she belted it out in front of the superstar on Wednesday’s episode.

Paige told HollywoodLife.com: “I’ve been a fan of [Britney's] for so long, so when I found out that she was one of the judges it was one of the main reasons I auditioned.

"Every time she’s played Arizona I have seen her, she’s amazing. And when I heard that song, I was like yes, I have been dying to do a Britney Spears song. It’s one of her best songs ever.”

Although it’s a bit of an awkward subject choice, Paige felt the song about the split in 2003 could help her in the competition.

She continued: “I was worried about that. Like I said, I am a Britney fan and after initially hearing the song I felt cool, let’s do it. But when we started working on it I thought this is going to hurt me or help me. To me that song is not about breaking up, I see it more about my dark past meeting the future positive me.

“Shedding one persona and moving into a new light. But right before I went on stage I told my vocal coach I was so nervous. I couldn’t believe I was doing it, am I crazy? But life is about taking risks and if you don’t you never know what you can do.”
