This year the X Factor single will not go head to head for the Christmas number one spot, instead it will be released two weeks prior to the usual Xmas chart battle.
The winner is set to be announced on December 9, at the Manchester Arena and the winner’s single will be released shortly after the final.
This seems like a repeat of last year, as Little Mix released their single ‘Cannonball’ a week before Christmas, but were beaten to the Christmas top spot by The Military Wives.
The managing director of The Official Charts Company, Martin Talbot commented: "Last year, it meant that Little Mix's debut single 'Cannonball' had its strongest week before the battle for festive number one was underway - letting in the Military Wives with 'Wherever You Are'.
"But with rumours that the X Factor finalists' single is also due to be a charity single, that could help it sustain through a second week and right into Christmas - if they get the song and the charitable cause right."
With Jahmene Douglas a favourite with the bookies, rumours are circulating that he will donate to domestic abuse charities because he has already championed the cause so much online.
Do you think a charity Christmas single is a good idea? Or will you miss the Xmas number one battle?
