The X Factor 2012: Melanie Masson Eliminated In Second Deadlock Decision!

Following the drama of last week’s X Factor results show, it’s safe to say that anything could have happened tonight when it emerged that Melanie Masson and District 3 were in the bottom two and it was again, Gary vs Louis.

Louis’ act District 3 took to the stage first singing ‘Everything I Do, I Do It for You’ and gained a strong reaction from the crowd. Melanie opted to sing Bette Midler’s ‘Stay With Me’ and, again, received a fantastic reaction from the audience for her powerful rendition.

Louis voted first and told Melanie that despite loving her from the start, he had to stick with his own act and send her home. Tulisa was next and admitted that Melanie has a fantastic voice but her “heart is with the boys” and therefore backed Louis and sent home Melanie. Unsurprisingly, Gary also chose to save his own act and sent District 3 home, meaning that the final decision lay with Nicole. Admitting that she could see how much Melanie “wanted to be there,” she chose to send home District 3 and take the decision to deadlock.

As Dermot opened the envelope to reveal the result, the nerves on both of the acts faces was evident. When it was announced that Melanie had received the fewest public votes and would therefore be leaving, she took the news gracefully and admitted that she was honoured to have even been part of the competition.

The result means that Gary Barlow has lost two acts in the past two weeks, and now only has Kye and Christopher left in his category.

Do you think the right act left tonight?
