After a disastrous performance on the first day of The X Factor boot camp, Jahmene Douglas was feeling the nerves as he prepared for his second performance in front of the judges.

Jahmene was seen preparing for his audition, drinking water and looking nervous. He told other contestants “there’s a lot of pressure on me, because yesterday I let myself down a lot.”

However his nerves were hitting him harder than most and as he stood at the side of the stage, he was looking wobbly. Jahmene then told an X Factor crew member he couldn’t go on, as he felt “faint” and “numb”. The crew member took him to the medical team and MK1 (rap/singing duo) went on for their audition.

Back stage Jahmene was calmed by medics but still didn’t feel ready to face the music. However judges Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger were not ready to let Jahmene give up. They went backstage, gave him a hug and a pep talk and eventually Jahmene took to the stage.

He looked nervous however as soon as the music began Jahmene relaxed and belted out “Will you still love me tomorrow?” His efforts were met with a standing ovation from the audience and the Asda-worker looked stunned and proud at the reaction. Once the cheers had died down Gary Barlow said, “You can sing, you really can.”

Jahmene smiled and left the stage, leaving the judges to discuss his performance. Gary said, “This show is tough love and if this is what he’s like at this point, I would worry.” Nicole added that there was “a lot of stuff we need to work with him on and it’s not his voice.” Tulisa agreed saying he “needs lots of support and lots of care.”
