itv/WENNTonight’s X Factor saw the judges deliberate over the remaining 70 contestants and cut them down to just 24. However there were two groups that caused much discussion between the judges.
GMD3 and Triple J had equally impressed the judges throughout the process however there was only one spot available, after Mitsotu, Duke, MK1, Poisonous Twins, and Rough Copy were all put through.
The judges decided that the only way to confirm who would take the last spot would be a sing-off battle – on the spot. The two boy bands were given just one minute to confer and decide what they would sing.
Triple J went first and sung a punchy version of Usher’s “Yeah x3.” GMD3 followed with an emotional “That God Blessed The Open Road.” Triple J has a catchier sound but GMD3 sounded smoother.
The judges deliberated and decided that they preferred the smoother sound of GMD3, leaving Triple J’s dreams crushed. Gary informed both the groups they had been “neck and neck” throughout the competition.
