Swayze's widow sees counsellor to deal with grief

Patrick Swayze's widow has started sessions with a grief counsellor after growing "sick" of analysing the star's death with her friends.

The actor lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2009, and his wife Lisa Niemi has written a book about his 21-month fight against the disease.

In the tome, she opens up about how she has coped with losing her partner, and reveals she has turned to a therapist after the "depression" of mourning took its toll.

She writes in Worth Fighting For: Love, Loss and Moving Forward, "Part of me thinks, 'I should be over this by now.' It's almost like an embarrassment. In addition to feeling like a broken girl, I feel like a broken record.

"It's only just recently that I started talking to a grief counsellor. I got sick of hearing myself say the same stuff in my head and to the friends I share with. Depression seems to have become a permanent fixture in my life. Like it's stuck inside me and won't unclog.

"I'll have some wonderful days, and then I'll crash and it feels like nothing has changed at all. I still miss him as terribly as I ever did."

I know what she's going through,I lost my wife to the same thing 3 years ago and until you experience grief you just don't realise the severity of it.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I can't begin to imagine what that must be like. Ive been with my husband for 20 yrs, He is my childhood sweetheart and my life! In all that time we have only ever been apart 17 nights due to hospital stays. If i ever lost him, I dont know what i would do, It would be like losing part of me.

Yahoo, this is not news let the poor woman grieve in private and keep your nose out of it!

If you read the article you'll see that Yahoo are quoting from a book SHE wrote about grief and what she's going/went through - so i'm thinking privacy isn't at the forefront of her mind!

Grief in my vast experience is a parallel universe. On one level as time goes by, you come to terms with the loss, becoming more and more accepting that your loved one is now gone. This is what people mean by, 'time will heal'. However on another level as time goes by, you become more and more aware of the passage of time since you last saw your loved one and that in itself brings on an ongoing, increasing sense of loss that never ends.

Fair enough comment in normal circumstances but she is not grieving in private as she has wrote a book about her loss and grief. The 'news' story will have been pushed out by her publicist as part of a book pre-launch.

I don't comment often but i always read comments and i've come to the understanding that "WHO" is the only word in your vocab. Why don't you learn some more words, it's fun. ;o)
