WENN.comDespite declaring she was leaving Disney behind and looking forward to sinking her teeth into darker and more grown-up projects, it seems Selena Gomez couldn’t resist returning to the show that made her so famous, one last time. It has been confirmed the actress has signed on to appear in the upcoming Wizards of Waverly Place movie.
The 19-year old will reprise her role as teen wizard Alex Russo one last time in the movie adaptation of the hit TV series which catapulted her into stardom.
Selena had previously admitted that leaving the show after four year was ‘one of the hardest things she ever had to do’.
Though it seems this time she will add executive producer to her already long list of expertise.
"I think she'll be great because she's great at seeing the whole picture," Gomez's Wizards mom Maria Canals-Barrera told E! News.
“She's not just focused on her part. She's the kind of actor that can see the whole story.”
“I think she'll take it seriously like she does," she added. "I think it's going to be great, I really do. I'm very excited about it.”
The movie, which is set to start production next month, is thought to see the Russo family and friends head to Tuscany where they will no doubt encounter the usual mishaps that fans know and love.
As well as Gomez, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, David DeLuise and Gregg Sulkin will also return but it is the young actress that Canals-Barrera is the most excited to be re-united with.
"She's so sweet and talented and easy to work with," she gushed. "She's so good that whatever stuff we'd have to do together, it was so satisfying because she's so good. She's so talented."
