WennThis week's episode focuses on disgraced Sargent Brody, who's luck turns from bad to worse as he gets thrown out of the house by his suspicious wife.
"I don't trust you anymore," she tells her husband, as she senses he's not being upfront and honest with her. Carrie meets with new surveillance team, Max and Virgil, who've been instructed to monitor Brody.
She then 'bumps into' their target at the CIA offices. Their reunion, planned to confuse, interest and worry Brody, is slightly awkward, but Carrie plays her part well, telling him: “You kinda saved me."
Things continue to intensify throughout the episode and as Carrie and Brody and are encouraged to get closer by both sides, for different reasons, their paths meet at the hotel bar where Brody is staying after he calls her. “I was just wondering if we could bury the hatchet, for real,” he opens up.
When they meet, Brody apologises for what she had to go through. This attitude surprises her and she becomes more fidgety, possibly blowing her cover.
Brody leaves for his room, as Carrie gets increasingly frustrated as Peter and Saul tell her to return to the office… Which she ignores.
In an emotionally charged final scene, Carrie follows Brody up to his room, feigning innocence as though she thought he was expecting her to come up. However, soon she takes off her metaphorical mask and gives him her intense and honest opinion: “Do I want to be friends with a demented ex-soldier who hates America, who decided strapping on a bomb was the answer to what ailed him, despite his daughter, his son, people who loved him in real life?”
Brody stalks over to her, with evil intent in his eyes: “I liked you, Carrie,” he tells her. “I loved you,” is Carrie's response, just moments before armed men burst through the door to tackle panicked Brody.
“If only the circumstances had been wildly different. You’re a disgrace to your nation, Sgt. Nicholas Brody. You’re a traitor and a terrorist, and now it’s time you pay for that.” She snarls and we see the former man of honour led away.
As usual, an explosive episode! We can't wait to see what and who our heroes tackle next.
