Rebecca Ferguson Slams Ex Zayn Malik: 'We Never Speak, We're Not Friends'

Looks like the chances of Zayn Malik getting back with his ex girlfriend and fellow X Factor contestant Rebecca Ferguson are slim to none as the singer has gone on US TV and slammed the One Direction hottie claiming the pair aren't even friends – Ouch!

The Liverpudlian appeared on Jay Leno, making her the latest British act to make an assault on the US charts and didn't hold back when it came to dishing the dirt on her famous ex.

She said, according to The Metro: “I don’t ever, ever speak to him. I have maintained friends with some exes, it just depends on the person,”

Making it clear the couple weren't on good terms, she added: “I never felt the need to continue with his friendship.”

So what exactly went wrong?

The couple started dating during the X Factor tour at the beginning of 2011, but had split by July with Zayn claiming in August that year, the split was due to their work commitments.

He told The Mirror: “I got told at the beginning of my career it’s quite hard to hold on to a relationship and realised halfway through the relationship that it was hard. We both mutually decided.

“Am I sad? We’re just getting on with it and doing our own thing. We’re still friends though. The band are there to help me through it. We’re five mates. We talk about everything.”

So what went wrong since then? Could it be Zayn moving on with another X Factor hottie, Perrie Edwards of Little Mix?

The couple went public in April and haven't exactly been private about their feelings for each other. It seems Rebecca has been put off the idea of romance, she told Leno: “I’m not dating, I get so distracted.”

Perhaps in a dig to Zayn she said: “I’m just one of those girls that fall in love and I fall hard and it really just distracts me.

“I  finally got to that point where I’m like 'No, boys can wait – I’ve got too much to do right now'.”
