Rebecca Ferguson has slammed criticism she has received for dating One Direction's Zayn Malik, describing it as "sexist."
The 'Nothing's Real But Love' singer dated the youngster when he was 18-years-old, shortly after their stint on The X Factor last year. Rebecca received extensive backlash as she was 24 at the time and has two young children.
However, Rebecca says people wouldn't have had a problem with the relationship if it was an older man dating a younger girl. "Let's be fair, if it was a lad who was 24 dating an 18-year-old girl, everyone would have just said, 'Oh, that's your girlfriend - nice one', and that would have been the end of it," she told Now magazine.
"I think the reaction to us was a bit sexist," she added.
Rebecca's comments come just a day after she revealed she broke up with Zayn because "something didn't feel right" in their relationship.
