P. Diddy Plans To Launch New Music Channel 'Revolt' Rivalling MTV

It has been reported hip-hop mogul Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs is extending his reach beyond music, fashion and fragrances, and moving into the television industry by launching Revolt - a new music-themed cable network being billed as the black MTV.

Diddy's vision for Revolt is a music network with an urban direction and a focus on videos, rather than original programming. One source described the feel as being similar to the "old days" of MTV.

The 42-year-old Bad Boy Records CEO is rumoured to have been in talks with Time Warner and Comcast to provide distribution services for the channel which is planned to start broadcasting on 12/12/12, with Broadcasting & Cable reporting a Time Warner spokesperson confirming there have been 'some discussions'.

Former MTV chief Andy Schuon, who has also worked at Universial Music Group, has also reportedly been signed up to work on the project.

What do you think - is Diddy the right man to re-invent music television?
