Michelle Dockery might be reigning supreme on Downton Abbey but according to reports, she could soon have a an American rival in the form of Gwyneth Paltrow.
With Downton doing so well in the US, The Daily Mirror has claimed that writer Julian Fellowes has decided to pen an American version of the popular period drama, titled The Gilded Age.
And it appears that Julian has got the perfect leading lady in mind...
A source told the publication: "Gwyneth is seen by Julian and his team as one of the best actresses in the world. They have loved her work in period dramas and know what she could bring to The Gilded Age."

Explaining his reasons for writing a show for the US market, Julian said: "I didn't want to just try and write another British series. And go into competition with myself."
The news that Gwyneth could land a role in The Gilded Age comes after the reports that the actress wanted a cameo role in Downton.
A source claimed to Star: "Gwen just wrapped Iron Man 3 and is so sick of blockbusters and wants to focus more on TV.”
Having already got a taste of TV acting when she guest starred on Glee recently, the source added: "She adored working on Glee and told her team to get her on Downton Abbey, stat!
She’s been told on the downlow that [show creator] Julian Fellowes is ‘thrilled’ and fleshing out a cameo for her."
