    Lauper's Kinky Boots musical gets October launch date

    Cyndi Lauper's musical revamp of 2005 movie Kinky Boots is set to hit the stage later this year.

    The Girls Just Wanna Have Fun singer joined forces with actor/writer Harvey Fierstein and director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell for the production in 2010 and the theatre show will now get a test run in Chicago, Illinois later this year, before hitting Broadway.

    Lauper has created the music and lyrics for the show - her first foray into the theatre.

    The musical will open in October at the Bank of America Theatre.

    The film, about a desperate shoe factory boss, starred Chiwetel Ejiofor and Joel Edgerton.

      Kinky Boots was a very underrated film, I look forward to getting the chance to see the stage show if it comes to the U.K.
