Lady Gaga Steals Liz Hurley's 1994 Gown Crown In Same Iconic Safety Pin Dress

It's been named 'the greatest dress of all time' by numerous publications and shot Liz Hurley's celebrity profile through the roof almost two decades ago – but Lady Gaga wants a piece of that glory.

The 26-year-old Born This Way singer has been gracing the FROW's of numerous Milan Fashion Week shows and wasn't shy about her demonstrative love for Versace, having snaps taken with Donatella herself and being spotted in numerous outfits from the Italian brand this week.

And when Gaga stepped out earlier this week wearing a black ensemble fastened together with safety pins, we thought that was borderline crossing Liz Hurley's territory when it comes to stealing the gown limelight – but the singer went all the way there.

Gaga was photographed outside the Prinicpe Savoia hotel in Milan yesterday wearing the exact same Versace gown that made the headlines back in 1994 when Liz accompanied Hugh Grant to the Four Weddings and a Funeral movie premiere.

And all the Pokerface hitmaker did was show how great the dress still is, looking like one whopping attention-seeker by donning the most talked about gown of all time.

Lady Gaga proves Liz Hurley is still on point almost two decades on - Splash

The singer, who once thrived on being original with her fashion sense of telephone hats, outrageous costumes and platform heels, proved she's lagging in the style stakes by pulling out an old dress, glorified by another woman.

She wore the Versace number, which features a daring plunging neckline and oversized gold safety pins fastening the back and front sections together, with her favourite pair of skyscraping lace up boots and her chocolate brown locks tied up into a slick ponytail.

Like Liz, she accessorised with gold earrings, and wore a more full make-up look complete with red lips. And even though Gaga doesn't quite fill out the gown in all of the right places like hourglass shaped Liz does, she's still attempted to usurp the model's gown crown.
