Kris Humphries Hints At 'Fake' Kim Kardashian Says Marriage Was 'Real For Him'

Kris Humphries Hints At 'Fake' Kim Kardashian Says Marriage Was 'Real For Him'

Kim Kardashian is not the only one to get a backlash from her failed marriage to Kris Humphries, as the basketball star has been forced to defend himself about their decision to split.

The former Kourtney & Kim Take New York star insists that the marriage had been "real" for him, although he wouldn't go so far as to include Kim Kardashian on that statement.

Talking to Access Hollywood, Kris said: "To me it was real. I would never go through something or do something that wasn't real or I didn't believe in, so I can really only speak for myself in terms of that."

Kris was married to Kim for just 72 days after their lavish wedding on August 20 in California, before he was unceremoniously dumped by the star after Kim filed for divorce on Halloween.

"To me it was real. I would never go through something or do something that wasn't real or I didn't believe in, so I can really only speak for myself in terms of that.

"In my life, there [have] been opportunities to make money and I don't believe in what it is. When I was a kid growing up, it was always like, 'Man, one day I want to have this or that', and you work so hard and that's your goal, but like, when you get all those things that you wanted, those things don't make you happy.

"Money only has so much - it doesn't rule my life so I would never do anything strictly for money."

Kim was seen rushing to meet Kris for crisis talks in Minnesota following their split, and during the latest season of KKTNY, viewers were able to see that it was Kris's training that caused the initial rifts between the couple as he had to concentrate on sport over partying. Kris explained that his love of basketball has helped him move on.

"I'm in a great place, above all [thanks to] my faith in God and just… how close my family is and then the fact that… luckily, we didn't get locked out all season and we're playing basketball."

He also added: "Basketball is where you can just go and not think about anything and just let loose. I always tell people basketball is like my therapy. Some people talk to psychologists and stuff like that. I just need to go play basketball."
