James Arthur is well on his way to scoring a number one this weekend with sales of his X Factor winner's single 'Impossible' close to hitting the 500,000 sales mark less than a week after its release.
The 24-year-old, who became X Factor's ninth winner on Sunday, has covered Shontelle's 'Impossible' as his debut single and it has so far proved popular with fans who have raced to download the track making it the fastest-selling X Factor winner's single in history.

According to the Official charts Company, James has already sold more than 379,000 copies and is expected to trump Matt Cardle's 2010 opening week sales when his winner's single When We Collide shifted 439,000 units.
Other X Factor winner's opening week sales pale in comparison to James', with Little Mix's 'Cannonball' selling 210,000, Leon Jackson's 'When You Believe' shifting 275,000 and Steve Brookstein, who won the first series, sold a mere 127,000 copies.
On Radio 1's midweek chart update, James has already bumped Gabrielle Aplin's 'The Power Of Love' single off the top spot, keeping will.i.am and Britney Spears' 'Scream & Shout' at bay sitting at number two.
Looks like James has a bright future ahead of him!
