Whitney Houston's brother-in-law has played down suggestions the late star took her own life and maintains her death was an accident.
The pop superstar was found dead in the bath tub in her hotel suite in Los Angeles on Saturday and a coroner subsequently ruled out foul play.
Rumours suggest Houston's longtime battle with drugs and alcohol may have played a part in her passing, but the cause of her death won't be known until toxicology tests are completed.
Houston's brother-in-law, Billy Watson, whose sister is married to the star's brother Gary, has spoken out to dismiss suggestions the tragedy was anything other than an accident.
He tells ABCNews.com, "Oh, no, this is accidental. She wouldn't have left her daughter like that. She wouldn't have done that to her daughter."
Houston's 18-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, with her ex-husband Bobby Brown, was in Los Angeles when her mother died and was subsequently hospitalised after reportedly suffering anxiety issues in the aftermath of the tragedy.
