WENN.comAs Peter Jackson is probably the most successful fantasy film director of all time - gaining a truckload of Oscars, huge audiences and widespread acclaim for his takes on the 'Lord of The Rings' trilogy, you'd have thought that he'd be the ultimate genre geek.
Yet according to the director, who's returned to the books with new movie 'The Hobbit', and two more movies based on J. R. R. Tolkein's work to come, he isn't a particular fan of fantasy films.
According to USA Today the director said: "I'm not a huge fan of fantasy for fantasy's sake,"
Well Pete, you could've fooled us, after all after the next bout of Middle-Earth based adventures Jackson will have directed six movies based on perhaps the iconic fantasy novels.

However the director did go on to reveal that he isn't just a directorial masochist, it's the Tolkein novels that he finds fascinating in particular.
Jackson said: "I like Tolkien's work because of the language, the cultures he wrote about -- they're anchored in a very real historical mythology that he created."
Tolkein's books have become a favourite of children and adults alike, with 'The Hobbit' and the three 'Lord of The Rings' novels spawning a devoted fan culture and of course the successful film series, as well as games.
