Ed Sheeran has revealed he is ready to have a girlfriend but is too shy and awkward to approach women.

The 'A Team' singer-songwriter may be one of the hottest acts in the UK at the moment, but his success still hasn't given him the confidence to be able to chat-up women.

"I am the worst with women, I'm just awkward - I can't start up conversations," Ed admitted to The Sun.

"I should be rock and roll and should be doing everything that moves - but it's all good."

Until he finds a woman to steal his heart, Ed is keeping himself busy on his quest to crack the US market after giving several successful performances in New York, Boston and Philadelphia to promote his debut album +.

The 21-year-old will be heading back to the UK in October when he kicks of his tour.
