Doctor Who's Karen Gillan Splits With Boyfriend Of Five Years

Karen Gillan, who play’s Amy Pond in the BBC’s Doctor Who series, has split from her boyfriend of five years, photographer Patrick Green, just weeks after her costar Matt Smith ended his relationship with model Daisy Lowe.

In an interview with the Radio Times she let slip that the couple had gone their separate ways at the end of last year. Karen was promoting her new drama We’ll Take Manhattan, where she plays sixties supermodel Jean Shrimpton who had a relationship with a photographer and later became his muse. When asked to compare her own relationship to that of the characters, she spoke about the relationship in past tense, saying: “We never really did any of that. It's quite healthy to keep certain things separate in a relationship, I think.”

Also speaking about her departure from Doctor Who, she described it as: “A completely mutual agreement. Steven Moffat and I decided when would be the best time for Amy to go. I’d like to see her go out in flames of glory.”
