Olympic hero Louis Smith and TV presenter Denise Van Outen are the early favourites to win Strictly Come Dancing this year.

The stars, who will be seen getting assigned professional dance partners in tonight's season premiere (September 15), each have 3/1 odds to come out on top, according to Oddschecker.

Behind them, Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh is on 4/1, Westlife's Nicky Byrne is on 6/1 and London 2012 heroine Victoria Pendleton is on 9/1.

Dani Harmer and Michael Vaughan are potential dark horses, with 12/1 and 16/1 chances respectively.

Outsiders Fern Britton, Lisa Riley, Sid Owen, Colin Salmon and Richard Arnold are all on odds of around 33/1, whilst Johnny Ball and Jerry Hall bring up the rear on around 50/1.

Yesterday Chris Evans claimed that TOWIE narrator Van Outen should not be allowed to participate because of her history in a dance-heavy West End musical. She had previously appeared in Chicago.
