Singer song-writer Ben Howard has hit out at One Direction and the Brit Awards, saying that everyone “groaned” when the boys were announced as best group.
The star, named Best Breakthrough at the bash, poured the hate on the 1D boys as he'd have preferred to see rockier acts honoured at the show, blaming Simn Cowell's proteges fo helping make things “tame”.
"It was definitely a pretty tame awards show. There weren't many rock groups there. You heard this audible groan around the hall when One Direction were up for 'Best Group'," The Wolves singer told The Sun.

The star did say that he'd like to remain anonymous, but he may have a hard job on his hands after slamming Directioners' heroes. “I hope the Brits hasn't ruined anything. I may have shot myself in the foot. I have a platinum-selling record but I can walk around fine," Howard.
A stranger to the limelight, he still found it pretty cool to be trending on Twitter, saying:"I got told that 'Who the f**k is Ben Howard' was trending on Twitter - I like the idea of it. I was never in music to make it to awards shows. I s**t myself when the paparazzi were taking photos."
Even the paparazzi though didn't have a clue who the understated singer was, as he added: "It was bizarre but the nice thing was most of photographers were still like, 'Who is this guy?'"
Ben isn't the first musician to take aim at the popsters, with Jake Bugg telling Shortlist:"People [call them the new Beatles] because they broke America, but that don't mean a thing.
"I mean, [One Direction] must know that they're terrible. They must know... Calling them the new rock stars is a ridiculous statement. And people should stop making it."
