    'We Had The Best Time' Coldplay's Chris Martin Hits Back At Paralympics Criticism

    Coldplay's Chris Martin has taken to Twitter to hit back at recent criticism of the 2012 Paralympics Closing Ceremony, saying they "had the best time."

    The band took to the stage to perform a 16-song set during the celebrations at the Olympics on Sunday night (September 9) which were entitled the Festival Of Flame During their set.

    Coldplay were joined by US stars Rihanna and Jay-Z throughout their se but some viewers were left angry that the group were featured so heavily during the ceremony.

    In a message on Twitter, Chris said the group had "the best time" performing at the event.

    "Thank you so much for your kind messages about the Paralympics closing ceremony," he wrote. "We had the best time and were so proud to be part of it. CM."

    Rihanna joined the band onstage for a performance of their collaborative track 'Princess Of China' and later returned with Jay-Z for 'Run This Town'.

    Reviewing the Paralympics closing ceremony on Sunday night, Guardian chief critic Alexis Petridis wrote: "You didn't have to be one of those people who thinks Coldplay are the cloven-hoofed musical emissaries of Satan himself to have been slightly concerned about how appropriate a booking they were.''

    Other fans took to Twitter to voice their concerns over Coldplay at the Paralympics ceremony.

    @tomhatly wrote on Sunday night: ''I do love Coldplay but i think it's wrong for the whole ceremony to be a mini concert for them.''
