Bay signs on for new Transformers sequel

Director Michael Bay is revving up for a fourth installment of the Transformers franchise.

The filmmaker announced on Tuesday that he had signed a two-picture deal with Paramount Pictures, which will include a new take on the Transformers brand - although Bay and his producer pal Lorenzo di Bonaventura have yet to figure out a plotline.

Di Bonaventura tells MTV News, "I think the challenge there is that we are really going to do a reboot and what that's going to be, we don't even know yet...

"It's an evolution. There's still continuity that's going on, yet there will be a lot of new cast. Whether there's anybody from the first cast, we don't even know yet. The trust is it's going to be a whole new story."

Original star Shia LaBeouf is not expected to be part of the new film after insisting he was done with the hugely-successful action series following the release of last year's Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which grossed a massive $1.12 billion worldwide. And sexy leading lady Megan Fox was replaced by model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in the third film.

The next Transformers sequel is scheduled to hit theatres in June, 2014.

could have amore graphic kinda 300 meets lord of the rings kinda scale going on and what if the transformers were original organic beings that progressed sofar they chose immortality as machines some kinda missing link time travel grey aliens etc twist that the transformers are us in the future .hence the full circle thing of returning to earth without knowing they are saving themsselves by protecting there own genetic origins?

Bay stopped making good action films since the turn of the millennium. The Rock and Armageddon both excellent. Everything since has been a waste of time.

how about 1 set in the pre historic like the comic with dinobots and make the robots move slightly slower and more smooth so its easyier on the eye and dump the added characters put in for the 8 year old toy franchise make it more adult like the cartoons! lol add more mystery and give us a more concise history of cybertron as well maybe even a prequel called the cybertronian wars would be epic?
