According to show insiders, boss Simon Cowell has booked eleven Team GB medalists to appear on the show.

The Sun reports that some of the athletes taking part in the show will include rowers Alex Gregory, Andrew Triggs-Hodge, Pete Reed & Tom James as well as cyclists Laura Trott, Dani King, Lizzie Armistead and Joanna Roswell.

A source told the paper: "Simon promised an Olympic night and he's delivered. The Heroes show is all about celebrating the Olympics and the British summer of sport."

"It's a feel-good show and we hope people will get a buzz from it."

A nice sentiment but what exactly have these great sportsmen and women got to do with singing?

The athletes will apparently be introduced by Dermot O'Leary and will then give advice to the contestants.

Rylan Clark is rumoured to be singing the Spandau Ballet classic 'Gold' tonight with the man himself telling omg! earlier this week what to expect from his performance.

He told us: "This Saturday I've got so much in store for the live show. I've got the biggest routine this week; we're going to have a futuristic Egypt and there's a throne and a lot of naked men!"

Other songs on tonight's X Factor will apparently include 'Simply the Best' and 'Rule the World'.

One Direction are also tipped to be appearing on tonight's first live show which airs at 8pm on ITV1.

All in all we're bracing ourselves for the weirdest edition of the X Factor to ever be broadcast in the history of the show.
