The Schiaparelli and Prada 'Impossible Conversations' Costume Institute Gala last night was a huge trend-spotting opportunity, with metallics, peplum and backless trends all on display.

It was the feather dresses that really caught out imagination at the Met Gala 2012.

The dip-dye effect went from burgundy up top to match her lipstick, getting darker as it headed down.
