Last night, One Direction were clearly chuffed after they cleaned up at the VMA's but for one member, there was another reason to be smiling.

Presenting the band with their award, Katy Perry took the opportunity to go in for a congratulatory kiss with Niall.
And it wasn't a polite award ceremony kiss either.
The two locked lips on stage as the rest of Niall's band mates trailed behind- you should have been quicker boys!

After the boys accepted the award, Niall tweeted the 'Wide Awake' singer with a cheeky message.
He posted: "@katyperry looks like its official ... me and you"
Not long after, Katy responded to the tweet, making light of the pair's vast difference in age.
She tweeted back: "I'll be your Mrs. Robinson..."

Katy is clearly a fan of the band after she voiced her distress earlier on in the evening surrounding the rumours that the band weren't going to be performing at the ceremony.
She tweeted: "If One Direction doesn't perform on the VMAs I am gonna jump off this ledge."
Good job it was just a rumour!
