Clad in a striking lemon coat dress Kate Middleton added elegance to the event that saw her husband, Prince William be installed as a Knight of the Thistle in the Scottish capital.

Apparently it's a really big deal and is the highest honour in Scotland — oooh err.
Naturally we're chuffed for Wils, but we're as always, somewhat distracted by the Duchess of Cambridge's fashion choice.

She stepped out in a fitted coat featuring a feminine lower half. Instead of wearing her much-loved nude heels that are probably super comfy for standing in all day, Kate decided to wear black heels and a tartan clutch (formerly seen at the Jubilee celebrations) for the occasion.

Instead of sticking to a straight colour palette, the royal opted for a taupe fascinator to sit on top of her perfectly coiffed curls.

To ensure her hair was perfect she rocked a half up 'do and there wasn't a strand out of place — clearly the muggy climate isn't making her locks go frizzy.
K-Middy joined Princess Anne, Prince Philip and the Queen in supporting Wils on his big day at St Giles.
