Ricky Gervais' controversial hosting of the Golden Globes is one of the highlights of award season, so we were pleased to see the comedian at his rude best with a Kim Kardashian/Kate Middleton joke.
He managed to take a swipe at the awards ceremony itself as well as pitting the Queen of US reality TV Kim Kardashian against our very own Duchess of Cambridge at the Globes in LA on Sunday.
Ricky joked: "The Golden Globes are just like the Oscars, but without any of the esteem.
"The Golden Globes are to the Oscars are what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton, actually: a bit louder, a bit trashier, a bit drunker and more easily bought. Allegedly, nothing's been proved."

It's not the first time Kim has come off unfavourably in a comparison with Kate.
Last month, Kate was named the National League of Junior Cotillions' best-mannered person of 2011, while Kim was called the most ill-mannered.
Ricky also took aim at Eddie Murphy at Sunday's show, saying: "Who needs the Oscars? Not Eddie Murphy. He walked out on them, he said no, and good for him. But when the man who said yes to Norbit says no to you, you know you're in trouble."
The British comedian's opening monologue also zoomed in on Mel Gibson. Again. Ricky said: "I musn't mention Mel Gibson this year. Not his private life, his politics, his recent films or especially not Jodie Foster's beaver. I haven't seen it myself. I've spoken to a lot of guys - they haven't seen it either but that doesn't mean it's not good."

It seems the Globes' organizers can't get enough of Ricky's insults, giving him his third outing as host.
Ricky joked he was warned by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that if he were to: "offend any viewers, or cause any controversy whatsoever - they will definitely invite me back next year as well".
We hope he's back in 2013. The Globes wouldn't be the same without his one-liners.
