    Demi Lovato opens up about her previous eating disorder and self harm problems

    Demi Lovato has talked openly about her previous eating disorder and self harm problem which sent her to rehab back in 2010.

    Demi has spoken candidly about the troubled time to US talk show host, Katie Couric, about the treatment process and coming out the other side.

    The star says: "Treatment was so difficult at first, I wasn't even allowed to use the bathroom by myself".

    She also said how patients are not allowed certain things, and how she was constantly supervised to make sure she was eating.

    Demi says: "You're not allowed to have certain hair products that you could injure yourself with or possibly drink."

    "You were stripped of a lot of things. I also had somebody watching over me every single time I ate and if I didn't finish what was on my plate, and often there were times I would cry because I physically couldn't stomach it," she added.

    However, Demi admits that if that happened then there would be consequences:

    "If that happened, I would have to have little consequences, nothing horrible, just like not being able to go to the cafeteria to eat with everyone else."

    Demi added that despite the awful time she had in the past, she finally now feels comfortable in herself at last.

    "I had a really hard time dealing with it, but I think I've gotten to a comfortable place now."

    Demi managed to make a full recovery and now is impressing everyone as a judge over on US X Factor.

    Simon Cowell is reported to have labeled Demi, 'sensational'.
