Britney Spears and her fiancé Jason Trawick have called off their engagement.
The 31-year-old singer revealed yesterday that although they had ended their relationship, the two would always remain close.
She told People magazine: "Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."
Britney Spears' representative Jeff Raymond confirmed the split revealing that the decision to call off their thirteen month engagement had been a mutual one.
In a statement he said: "Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have mutually agreed to end their one-year engagement.
"As two mature adults, they came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways while continuing to remain friends."
Jason also released a statement in which he admitted that although the relationship was over Britney and her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James would always have a special place in his heart.
He said: "As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever."
Well, it’s nice to see that everyone has remained friendly.

The news comes the same week that Britney Spears confirmed that she would not be returning to the US X Factor after just one series as a judge.
In an official statement, Britney admitted that although she had enjoyed her time on the show she felt it time to go back to doing what she does best- recording music.
She explained: "I've made the very difficult decision not to return for another season.
“I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens but it's time for me to get back in the studio.
“Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can't wait to get back out there and do what I love most."
It seems like it has been quite the week of tough decision making for Britney.
In more positive news about the singer, Britney Spears looks set to have her first UK number since 2004’s ‘Every time’ with will.i.am collaboration ‘Scream & Shout’ this Sunday.
