When Girls Aloud announced that they were taking a break, we assumed it was a mutual decision. Turns out that things weren't that straightforward, with Nicola Roberts admitting the hiatus made her angry.

"Before I started making my album, I felt so frustrated that I wasn't making music and I felt like I couldn't see music in my life for a long time," Nicola told Bang Showbiz.
She continued: ""I felt like I wanted to be a singer and I used to write little and then all of a sudden the band went on a break and management were trying to find different things for me to do, this TV work, that TV work, and it was just like, 'This is really sad, actually'. Really not sitting well with me at all."
Nicola Roberts says the Girls Aloud break left her feeling frustrated and angry / WENNThe girls, Cheryl Cole, Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle, and Nicola decided to take a temporary break at the height of their success. Nicola initially concentrated on her makeup range, Dainty Doll, but was left feeling unfulfilled.
"I was frustrated and angry inside every day," she said. "That's what the song 'Fish Out of Water' was about. What? Am I supposed to just find another career because the band is on a break? That's how I felt."
We're glad that Nicola is feeling happier since releasing her solo album, Cinderella's Eyes, but we do think the girls should hurry up and reunite. It's been far too long and we're getting impatient.
