We can relate to Matt Cardle, say boyband a1

When Matt Cardle last week revealed he'd compromised himself on The X Factor and hated his attachment to the show, we were shocked.

However, it seems that newly reformed boyband a1 understand where he's coming from. "We all thought when we started this band that it'd be a stepping stone into the business," explained Christian Ingebrigtsen.

"We thought we'd do it, get our foot in the door, make contacts and then get a solo career. However, it all took off and now we love it. The music's progressed and we've had the opportunity to be more ourselves. So we've done it even though it wasn't through the TV show. You have to be a bit humble to get a chance in this business."

Bandmate Ben Adams agrees: "It's a big risk to take because when you're new to the industry you don't know that much. But if you can stick to your guns and it pays off then it's great."

And what about Matt Cardle's comment about hating being forced to wear yellow trousers? Mark Read told us: "I bet matt still feels grateful for the opportunity. You do think, 'Ah so we are all dressed like The Wiggles, but hey at least we're performing.'

Ben was clear to clarify Mark's comment "Not now!" he said, pointing to his jeans and leather jacket. "This is not the Wiggles look!"

We're glad to see the boys' style has changed as well as their music!
