Madonna names new album MDNA, causes Twitter trend

Madonna sent fans into a Twitter frenzy this afternoon after revealing her new album will be called MDNA.

The pop legend was being interviewed for an episode of 'The Graham Norton Show' when she let slip the new title.

Madge told the TV presenter it would be named MDNA because she is "currently into initials".

The four letters instantly started trending on Twitter with music fans speculating as to whether it did stand for a shortened version of her name, or whether it ACTUALLY had a more hidden meaning relating to the drug in Ecstasy MDMA.

One tweeted @HarrietJayneJax posted: "Madonna has called her upcoming album #MDNA quirky name abbreviation orrrrrr?"

While another said: "@the_spiz MDNA is the closest that Madonna listeners can get to ecstasy..."

Madonna's new single 'Gimmie All Your Lovin'' is set for its first play next month - on February 7. The track features Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.

Im not a huge fan of maggie, however i find it sad that most of the comments say about how 'old' she looks... Music shouldnt be about about how the person looks? Surely it should be about their ability to sing. If a 90year old, toothless, ugly woman can sing she should be judged on that alone not batterd down just because shes got old like every single person on this planet will do at some point in their life.... apart from lionel blair....He seems to have looked the same for the last 20 years..

I do not think somehow, that, she, caused a trend. I remember doing this myself three months ago, and I am sure, thousands of others might have done it also - BEFORE MDNA (madon...ha), but the world did not get to hear about it, because it was not necessary to cause a furore and publicity about it. How sadly petty all this is!

media critics and their bullsh** always trying to stir something where there is nothing. Sad to see something so simple to be twisted to something. noone would ever think it was an issue until someone in the media that is a certified junkie points it out. waste of space. Music is to be listened to and shared not discriminated. Appreciate the artists efforts perform, enjoy their products not his or her lifestyle, at the end they will by the album after all that. I really hope I look like her at 53! But I don't think I will ever be able to afford to! Should be on the NHS! I have to admit I don't llike her music anymore, she sings too young and is pretty old. I sounds ridiculous all of them, including Jlo, should give it a rest and let the young artist take over and have their bit of fame. But well done to her, let's hope is the last one, and leet's hope she wan't make or act in any movies again PLEASE
