The Killers Radio 1 gig at the Forum: omg! Review

Last night we got as sweaty as after a session of Bikram Yoga as we danced like we'd never danced to The Killers at a private Radio 1 gig.

The American band belted out their classic hits (and some uh-mazing new ones too) at the Forum in London's Kentish Town for Radio 1's Massive Month Of Live Music.

Here are the moments that made it one of our best night's of the summer:

The moment we fell in love with their new single...

When The Killers took to the stage at just before 8 o'clock and belted out their brand new single 'Runaways' we knew it was going to be up their with Mr Brightside and All These Things I've Done in our single collection. Even better live than we could have imagined.

The moment we felt like we were in the Wild West...

London's Kentish Town was but a distant memory as the band belted out 'Somebody Told Me' to a backdrop of fabric mountains that shone golden at times, icy blue at others, transporting us to a faraway mid-America land.

The moment we stamped our feet with 2000 others...

'Smile Like You Mean' it has never bothered us much on our iPod but live. Oh yes. We stamped. And stamped. And sang. And screamed. And stamped some more.

The moment we fancied Brandon Flowers all over again...

So we always fancy Brandon. But in Spaceman in the part that goes "oh oh oh oh oh oh oh" (you know the one), the cheeky frontman called for the crowd to take it away in his usual oh-so-fanciable way. And we were smitten.

The moment we hugged the dude next to us...

OK so he probably thought we were nuts but 'Reasons Unknown' live just has that affect on us. We were a little bit sweaty (or quite a lot sweaty) by this point but sure he didn't mind.

The moment we danced like there was no tomorrow...

'Human' doesn't really need much to make it awesome but a load of strobe lights certainly added to the atmosphere and made us dance like mad people as if it was Friday (not Monday) night.

The moment we got a bit teary eyed...

Always happens at *some* point when we see them, but Brandon Flowers telling the crowd "you're helping remind us why we do this" after a stirring 'Mr Brightside' and before a spine-tingling 'All These Things I've Done' made us have prickly pupils and want to group hug the drunken lads next to us.

The moment we wished it would never end...

After coming back on for an encore of new song 'Here With Me', the band finished the intimate gig on 'A Dustland Fairyland' and made us wish they could do it all over again.

The Killers performed an intimate and exclusive gig for BBC Radio 1 as part of Radio 1's Massive Month of Live Music. The show was broadcast live on Radio 1 during Zane Lowe's show. Listen back and see pictures at bbc.co.uk/radio1
