Exclusive stream: The Overtones album Higher: First Listen!

After listening to their first record on repeat, The Overtones recently got us *rather* excited about their brand new album 'Higher'.

And because we just couldn't wait any longer to hear it, we've bagged an EXCLUSIVE first listen right HERE:

Have a listen below and see what you think of their latest offering.

Chatting to omg! exclusively, Mark told us that the second The Overtones album has taken a new direction.

He said: "I think we branched out a little bit more with the second album in terms of the musical style.

"I remember with our first album we had the doo-wop, 50s and 60s but we've now branched out into Motown and also with the originals, we are keen songwriters so we've got 'Loving the Sound' on their and five other original tracks.

"We've been lucky enough to work with some amazing co-writers as well and with producers such as Trevor horn and Future Cut who worked with Olly Murs, Plan B and Stooshe so it's kind of bridging the old with the new on the new album."

We've bagged an exclusive first listen of The Overtones' new album!

And with things going so well with the band, it sounds as if it's next stop America.

Mike said: "We've spent the last eight to nine months in Europe and it's a really nice experience being away from your own country and seeing how other cultures react to the music.

"We've been over to America a couple of times and we've had a few interviews with the New York Times so ultimately the plan would be to eventually go over there. But there are a few countries to get under our belts this side of the pond first!"

Darren added: "I think we'd like to go when there is a calling for us rather than to go and be a very small fish in a massive pond. It would be nice to go when the time is right. Hopefully that will happen soon."

With the band hitting the road for a 28-day UK and Ireland tour from November, we asked them if there was any cheekiness backstage on the road.

We didn't quite expect them to tell us THIS story:

Mike said: "When we were in Berlin on the German tour I was making a heartfelt speech to the audience 'thank you for coming' but instead of letting me do it, Darren just came up behind me and stuck his finger up my a**. So that was lovely.

Darren added: "I do like doing that to Mike."

Mike said: "He does it all the time and it makes me jump, I hate it in front of a thousand people."

The Overtones album 'Higher' and single 'Loving the Sound' are out on Monday 1 October
