We spoke exclusively to Amelia about her new song to find out why she had now moved away from the rock chick sound she was known for when on the show.

Amelia explained: "I'm not a rock singer so I wanted to get away from that because people were looking at me as a rock singer."

"I think everyone was expecting the next Kelly Clarkson or Pink from me and I didn't want to be the next somebody else I wanted to be Amelia Lily."

Teaming up with the brains behind some of Girls Aloud's biggest hits, Xenomania, Amelia explained that she realised what musical route she wanted to go down when in the studio with them.

She told us: "I got working with Xenomania and we started discovering that my passion toward music was dance and this really shows in my voice."

Amelia's debut single 'You bring me Joy', out Monday, struck a chord with the singer the first time she heard it.

She confessed: "'You bring me Joy' was actually one of the first songs I recorded in the studio in February."

"I really connected with the chorus of the song and thought that this could be something special."

The track has already been added to Captial FM's playlist ahead of its release while the song has also garnered a positive response from the public.

Amelia confessed: "I'm literally so overwhelmed, I never expected such amazing feedback and I'm so happy that everyone likes it as much as I do."
