Adele won Best Album at the BRITs last night but got cut off half-way through her acceptance speech. Cue major cringing.
Adele was up against Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Florence + The Machine in the most prestigious category of the whole awards ceremony, and she made her way to the stage to collect it to rapturous applause.
Adele was thrilled to win Best Album at the BRITs but was cut off halfway through her speech / PAWhen she got hold of her gong she seemed thrilled and started to visibly well up with emotion as the audience cheered.

She began to say: "I can't explain how much it means to me to win six Grammys and then come home to the BRITs and win Best album..."
Adele flipped her middle finger in anger / PAHowever, at this point James Corden stepped in and said: "I can't believe I have to cut Adele off," as Blur waited to perform on stage.

Adele looked visibly annoyed, throwing her hands up in the air and even flicking her middle finger.
"Fine," she said. "I'll see you all next time," she said before the cameras cut to Blur on stage.
Twitter erupted in a storm of anger, with celebrities including Lily Allen tweeting: "I'd rather hear Adele's acceptance speech, that was a joke."

Within minutes 'Cutting Adele' was trending on Twitter, with fans tweeting their anger at the decision to stop Adele mid-speech.
Adele was quick to explain in the press conference following the incident that her swearing and annoyance was directed at the 'suits who cut her off,' and not her fans.
Adele won Best Album and Best Female / PAMany commentators have criticised George Michael who presented the award. He seemed to slowly slur his way through his speech before announcing the winner of the Best Album category which took up valuable time.
Blur then proceeded to perform a medley of hits which went on for ten minutes, sparking even more outrage from Adele's fans.

James Corden spoke about the incident afterwards and seemed visibly upset by the whole thing. "I'm actually really upset by it," he said. "Blur played for 11 minutes and she didn't even get to say thankyou once." Eek.
The whole incident was more than a little embarrassing. What with Adele being the biggest singer in the world right now and doing Britain proud at the Grammys over the weekend, we hoped we'd be able to give her the homecoming she deserved at tonight's BRITs.
We hope she's not too upset!
